 Unfortunately for him, Surferino's return did not result in a victory. The two game winners were Mr. Wicket 🏆 and Lefty 🏆.  

The Shot-Of-The-Day belongs to Sticky SOD Wicket 🔥.  Sticky hit a short shot through wicket #3 that traveled up to and through wicket #4 striking another ball thereafter for a roquet and resulting in a shirtless dance celebration enjoyed by all especially Sticky. 🎃

Two rounds played. First round winner 🏆 Surferino. Second round winner 🏆 Mr. Wicket. The course was fast. The day was warm. The music was weighted towards jazz and blues. Sticky particularly found the jazz helped his game. 

Inaugural 3D Themed Invitational Event, August 5, 2022

 In a first for the Cowabunga Croquet Club, or for any croquet club, Mar-A-Lawno impresario and DJ and course marshal and frequent winner, Mr. Wicket, created and produced a thoroughly entertaining 3D themed event for a select group of Cowabungas, actually all the local club members. Ably assisted by Mrs. Wicket, Mr. Wicket designed the event, assembled the materials, did the necessary art/graphics work and built a one-of-a-kind trophy for the winner. Below are depicted a selection of items:

This is a list of the seven 3D movies, posters of which were affixed to wickets.

                            This is a poster of an unnamed 3D movie to be identified from the seven movie list by                         each player upon his ball passing through the wicket. This movie was #6, 

                        This is a card containing instructions for the players regarding the movie poster. It also  contains a partial listing of the music playlist broadcast on the course.

This is a pair of the 3D glasses required to be worn by a player at each turn per the instructions above.

                                                     This is the official image of the Cowabunga Croquet Club. For the 3D event a commemorative 3D sticker decal was obtained and given to each player.

Under a  mostly sunny sky with a stiff northwest breeze from the Pacific Ocean, Mallethead, Mr. Wicket, Sticky Wicket, Surferino, Lefty and Wick O'Shay played a slow game on a fast, dry course. Inspired by the specially curated playlist,  all but Mallethead and Surferino sprinted ahead. As two others became poison, Mallethead and Surferino avoided death by being so far behind the crowd. But, like Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and The Hare, Surferino surged forward to become poison. After the unfortunate demise of four players and interminable sparring, Wick attempted a reasonable kill shot but missed. Surferino didn't miss 🏆.

When the players assembled on the ocean view deck, Mr. Wicket revealed the corresponding names and numbers of the movies. One Cowabunga had all seven movies correctly identified and received the trophy which now is displayed prominently on a shelf in Surferino's home.

No players or animals were injured during the event. One plastic lounge was damaged by Sticky, like a Ukrainian M777 shell hitting a Russian installation, when he plopped his keister down upon it. 

A second game was played and won by Mallethead 🏆.

First round winner was Lefty 🏆.

Second round winner was Sticky 🏆.

The sixth and seventh songs on the meticulously curated playlist battled for SOD, Song-Of-The-Day honors. The seventh song, Detachable Penis, was the hands down winner 🎶.

 Three rounds. Three separate winners.

Round 1 winner was Mr. Wicket 🥇.

Round 3 winner was Surferino 🥇.

SOD was had by Mr. Wicket  whose long shot from just beyond the fourth wicket went uphill and then downhill through the fifth wicket. Well done Mr. Wicket 🏆!

 Course #36 presented long approaches except for wicket 4/9. The short grass was fast. Two rounds were played. Round one players included Surferino, Wick O’Shay, Mr. Wicket and Mallethead. Lefty arrived for Round two.

4 Play at Mar-A-Lawno April 7, 2022

 Sticky Wicket, Mr. Wicket, Surferino and Wick O'Shay played two rounds at the recently plugged and groomed course on a splendid spring afternoon. Such a delight!

The round one winner 🏆was Mr. Wicket who slew Poison Surferino with a long kill shot.

The round two winner 🏆 was Surferino who hit a short kill shot on Poison Wick O'Shay who has just missed on a long kill shot of his own.

A special award for sexiest 👖was awarded to Sticky who sported the tightest (and only) jeans on the course.

February 12, 2022, Darwin Day All Comers

 First game won by Lefty 🏆. Second game won by Sticky Wicket 🏆after a long shoot-out with Surferino. SOD was 🎇Surferino's long distance shot through the 11th and 12th wickets leading to Poison. 

Course #34 was challenging. No animals or human feelings or pots were hurt or damaged during the competition. Three of the participants wore shorts, as the weather was warm.

February 10, 2022, Vamp in The Damp

Yes, the grass was dewy, thick in some places. But that did not detract from the meticulous grooming of the course by MVP Groundskeeper Miguel Miguel. Evidently Señor Miguel needed to put some hours on his brush cutter because all encroaching foliage and shrubbage was lacerated. Much space was reclaimed. The vastness and beauty of Mar-A-Lawno was showcased.

Incidentally, some thought has been given to selling the naming rights of Mar-A-Lawno. A corporate partner is welcome providing the dinero is abundant and the suggested name meets the high standards of the Cowabunga Croquet Club. No cryptocurrency outfits need apply.

Two rounds were played. The first round players included Wick O'Shay, recently returned from treatment for SADD (Surfing Affected Delay Disorder), Lefty, Sticky Wicket, Mr. Wicket and Surferino. The second round players included all but Wick. Although invited, Mallethead was a no show due to a No-Fly-List misunderstanding possibly.

Course #33, not in the official handbook but in the memory banks of some of he players, proved challenging. Wickets 1 and 2, oriented uphill in the rough, were not easily negotiated by some. Wicket #8, located on a downhill slope with a difficult approach, often frazzled players. Under the winter sun, players removed layers of clothing until unthinkingly moseying into the cold dark shade. Sticky bared his torso to the delight of none. Mr. Wicket eschewed a hat thereby nearly blinding Sticky.

Surferino won the Trivia Contest and was awarded a coveted certificate suitable for framing but not for display, according to she-who-must-be-obeyed.

The first game was won by Mr. Wicket 🏆. The second game, in which all players became poison, was won by Sticky 🏆. The SOD went to Sticky🎇whose long distance kill shot on Lefty occurred despite an odd distracting behavior demonstrated by Lefty. While lining up the shot,  Sticky was subjected to or enthralled by Lefty's bending over and twerking his caboose in time with the music. Others are still trying to disremember the episode.

Next event is planned for Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 1330 hours.
